ARTICLESPlanned Gifts - Legacy GiftsBy BC Children's Hospital Foundation Planned gifts - or legacy gifts - are donations that have a lasting impact. They are a meaningful way for individuals to express their values and support the causes that are important to them. Planned gifts are made from assets that remain at the end of life, after your needs and those of your loved ones, are met. They can be made in a variety of ways, including through wills, life insurance, charitable trusts, registered retirement savings plans, property, stocks, and bonds. In addition to providing philanthropic benefits, planned gifts often bring significant tax savings to you, your estate and heirs. BC Children’s Hospital is the province’s only full-service pediatric acute-care hospital, serving the entire population of one million children living in BC and the Yukon. All children who are seriously ill or injured are referred to Children’s Hospital and are either treated at the Hospital in Vancouver or in consultation with Children’s specialists, in their home community. One donor, who recently made a gift in her will, told us she has “four children, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren and is glad that there is a hospital here for all the children of BC.” Another donor said, “My children are taken care of now so I want to do something to take care of other children.” By making a planned gift, you can make a difference in a child’s life now, and in the future.
