Nanaimo & North Vancouver Island
Sat. August 7th, 2010 1:00pm - 4:30pm
St. Anne's Church is the oldest church in the Parksville area, being 116 years old this year. The churchyard cemetery is the gravesite of many of the area's pioneers. This charming historic building has beautiful stained glass windows.
St. Anne's Festival is planned to remember some of the pioneers through enactments of their life stories. They will take place in two sessions in the historic church, one at 1 p.m. and another at 2:30. The characters will be in period costume.
Area residents will be invited to put flowers on the gravesites of their relatives the day before. The organizers will ensuret that all of the graves are bedecked with flowers for the occasion. At the Festival, those attending will be encouraged to stroll through the cemetery locating the pioneers who have been honoured by having a great number of streets in the area named after them.
A scrumptious Victorian Tea will be served by ladies in costume in the Church hall nearby. Tickets are $15. each. For more information, call 250 248-0310
